Walking on rail track

Don't walk on railroad tracks even if you just want to change from one platform the opposide one. Even if in some countries it appears to be general practice to walk over track, don't follow this example set. You could be prosecuted and it is unsafe. Also, do not trespass onto any other area of the railway that is not available to passengers.

Throwing of objects at rail property

Don't throw any objects either on trains nor on tracks. You could injure passengers or yourself. Depending on the objects speeding trains might in worst case derail and you will be brought to court for this antisocial behaviour.

Beware of loud locomotives

All locomotives disregard of the model or make can be very loud when you are filming closely. Carry always some kind of earprotection with you to avoid long term damage to your ears.

Supicious behavior

If you get strange looks from people, don't be angry. Show willingness to cooperate if approached by police or rail authorities. Nowadays, filming at public places might be regarded as suspicious behavior. Take some railway alibi souvenirs on each trip you make to avoid any confusion. It's for your own safety, as there are vicious people out there who might have other intentions than photography and filiming. Crowded railway stations

Hunderts of people at one spot pose always a riks to health and security. While you cannot foresee who at the station might be sick, you can take care of your valuable recording devices, so that they won't be stolen when you are amidst a crowd. Take especially care when people are getting off trains at platforms and try to circle around rush hour when you plan your filming. In any case, stay clear of the platform edge.

Obstruction

Do not obstruct any signalling equipment or signs which are vital to the safe running of the railways. Avoid using tripods at busy stations and without station staff permission.
