Malmö Station

Visited by Railwaylive

The station used to be a terminus station only. With the establishment of the Øresund Bridge linking Sweden to Denmark and central Europe a new underground transit station has been openend in 2010. The trains serving this station right unter the old terminus run through the Citytunnel. This development makes the station an interesting spot to visit. From the platforms you have fantastic views on incoming trains. Here you need to be prepared to see the Swedish high-speed-train X 2000 as closely as you can get. The station staff appears to be very nice too. When you leave the station you can go to Norra Vallgatan Road next to the water canal accross the rail tracks. From there you will have the best views on both terminating services in the old train station part and on Oresundstrains coming out of the Citytunnel. As the light in the under earth station is not the best for nice shots, this is a great alternative. By the way, don't be shocked when you pop off the underground station part and can't find the old station. It happened to us likewise.
